.HS EXPRESERVE cmds

.SH NAME
expreserve \- Used by ex/vi to save edits during crashes
.SH SYNOPSIS
.nf
\fBexpreserve\fR [\fIarg\fR]
.BE
.SH DESCRIPTION
.PP
When a \fBvi\fR or \fBex\fR editing session is interrupted by a
crash of the program or the system, \fBexpreserve\fR is invoked
to save the edits that were in progress, so that they can be
recovered by invoking \fBvi \-r\fR or \fBex \-r\fR later on.
If \fBexpreserve\fR is invoked with no arguments, then it
preserves the information that it reads from standard input.
If any \fIarg\fR is specified, it preserves all of the edits recorded
in files in \fB/tmp\fR. For more information than this, read the
\fBexpreserve\fR and/or \fBex\fR code.
.PP
This program should not normally be invoked directly by users; it is run
automatically by the system.
